The stock market was going wobbly the other day because of Dubai's financial mess. Now we hear that Abu Dhabi has come to the "rescue" by pouring billions across the border to its neighbour.

But what has really changed?

While China is financing the U.S.'s two wars, it's also busy buying up real assets in the U.S. - buildings, businesses etc. They may wake up one day to find that they're tenants in their own country.

The Harperites seem to be changing the rules for foreign ownership of businesses, as was shown by the recent startup of GlobeAlive in Canada - an Egyptian company, I think. We may be on the way to tenant status ourselves here in Canada.
